Five Ways To Fancy-Up Your Picnic

When you think of picnics, you probably envision hot dogs, watermelons, and plastic utensils. Most picnics are spectacular for one reason; they are outdoor. That isn’t all that picnics can be, however. If you want to make your event a good balance of the beauty of the outdoors mixed with upscale luxury, these are five ways to “fancy things up”. The key to any great picnic, casual or elegant, rests in the fine details and little things that mean the most.

Use Silverware and Cotton Napkins

Picnics usually mean plastic utensils and throwaway napkins. People usually stick to materials that are easy to dispose of, mainly because it is outside and there isn’t a sink readily available to wash utensils and serving trays. If you want to upscale your soirée, use the good china alongside the finest cotton linen napkins. Just because it is held in nature, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t pack your picnic up at the end and worry about cleaning it later.

Comfy Equals Luxury

Being outdoors is beautiful and often necessarily rugged, but your picnic doesn’t have to be. Don’t sacrifice the comfy nature of your get together with folding or uncomfortable lawn chairs. One of the best ways to make your picnic a fancy one is to bring all the luxury items that you would love in your home to an outdoor setting. Have your guests rest their feet on an ottoman, throw around plent of blankets, and pillows with frills are a must. Fancy picnics come with all the finer things you would entertain using indoors but moved outside.

Flowers and Arrangements are a Must

One of the reasons that we love picnics is that you don’t have to do much to decorate. The great outdoors is usually beautiful enough. If you want to class your picnic up, place accent pieces of cut flowers, potted plants, and other colors from the season, strategically to make it that much more enjoyable. You can never have too many fragrant scents or vibrant colors.

Set the Mood With Mood Lighting

Picnics are usually held during the day because it is much more enjoyable to see when there is enough light. Intimate string lighting, however, is a great way to fancy up your picnic. By holding it at dusk or later in the evening, there is a calm that you can feel in the outdoor air, and you usually don’t have to worry about hot weather conditions. Sharing laughter and stories as the sun sets is elegant in its own right, so maximize all that nature has to offer.

Hide it Away

When something is elegant, it is usually private and secluded. People like to be invited exclusively to things they feel privileged to attend. Instead of having your picnic right outside your backdoor amid everything, find a more intimate space that is removed from the chaos and makes it cozy. Also, consider shading or putting up makeshift tents to set a “secret hideaway” feel.

Picnics are one of our favorite ways to celebrate because they mix the beautiful and wild nature of the great outdoors with our special occasions. If you want an occasion that is a bit more than just putting a blanket down and paper plates, we can help you make your picnic as fancy as you can imagine. Imagine letting us do all of the work and all you have to do is show up, enjoy, and that’s it!
